March 01 Coursework and deadlinesI'm
guessing most year 11s reading this will be taking a quick break from
their coursework. If you want to waste even more time, I recommend
checking out my latest blog entry. And if you have none left to do...
well, you must be some sort of robot. theafroblog.blogspot.com February 12 Still going! My new blog is still going strong! ^_^; Well, relatively. I update it occasionally. At least "poo you" hasn't turned up yet. Please check it out here: theafroblog.blogspot.com September 18 That's it, I give upIt's over. I'm fed up with all this negative feedback. For every person who tells me this blog really makes their day (thanks Nic, Anya) I get ten comments telling me just how bad it has become. I really can't be bothered to make the effort anymore. If I update my photos, or have something really big to announce, then I'll post it. But for now, my blog is officially closed. Ps. Talk Like A Pirate Day tomorrow! ^_^ Update: Oh, I have to show you guys this. It sure made my day. September 16 Depot and more photos![]() I just got a newsletter from Jamie's band "Depot", apparently now rather big. Well, they've just set up a new website at www.depotlondon.com - I guess breaking out of MySpace is quite a jump, especially as the website is very professional, with purchasable music and a little player at the bottom of the page. I'm considering going to a gig of theirs next Saturday, but the £15 entry fee seems a little steep seeing as though it's for 10 amateur bands, only one of which I actually want to see. September seems to be the birthday season, and birthdays always mean parties. ^_^ Yesterday was my birthday party, which was fun. Well, at least I had fun... I hope everyone else did. Anyways, I've got a bunch of photos from the event up here. Oh, and one last thing: would you guys prefer my photos to be on Picasa (the site they're currently on) or my Live Space? September 13 Awesome photosLast night was Hannah's birthday party, which was fun. Apart from a certain person who spent most of the party on the floor, I'd say everyone had a great time. We all dressed up formally and did informal things like eating pizzas, swapping hats and taking lots of photos of each other. Sadly, I didn't get to take many photos (and those that I did are rubbish - fingers crossed I get a new cameraphone for my birthday on Sunday!) Anyway, I recommend you check out Adam's photos of the event for great photos and witty captions. Ps. Yesterday's question still stands. September 11 And now, for something completely different (?)Considering Adam's comment left on yesterday's blog entry for a second, does anyone still read this? Are you all browsing MySpace instead? If so, perhaps I'd be better off moving my blog there. Or I could say "screw Live Spaces" and go get an account with Blogger (Google's blogging website). What do you guys think? ... that is, if anyone's reading this at all. September 10 Photoshop contest!Okay, so not everyone has Photoshop. But quite a few people have Photoshop Elements (or at least Paint!), so I propose a competition to make something cool out of this photo, which I have cut the background out of. ![]() The person who makes the best picture out of it will, uh, be mentioned on my blog. Isn't that a good enough reward? ^_^ September 08 Tenacious Goodness I'm gonna get a double helping of The D this winter! First off is their movie, Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny. In the works for many a year, the movie will finally be released on November 17 (with the accompanying soundtrack released November 14). It looks awesome! You can check out the trailer here. ![]() The second blast of D fun is their UK tour, beginning in December! Tomorrow morning, at 9, I'll be up and buying tickets for me, Luke and Nirvan to go see them at Hammersmith Apollo. If you're getting tickets as well, make sure you tell me! We can go as a group. ^_^ September 05 You are a pirate!MySpace hackingHello. I'm at Big Nick's house at the moment. Lily was just on MySpace for a while, and I noticed that one of the bulletin posts was this. ![]() Actually, a couple of people have sent me this bulletin now. Guess what happens if you click on the picture? (the link doesn't work here, btw). You get sent to a site far, far away... ![]() In fact, I find it hilarious that they've actually left the box on the page that says "Look for login.myspace.com in the Address". Don't fall for these tricks, people. Why they want your password is beyond me, but take a look at this forum post I found, by someone whose account was hacked. September 02 More photosIf you've noticed a lack of photos going up on my Msn Space, that would be because they've moved home. All of my photos now live at http://picasaweb.google.com/bowsermarkii. The reason is that I'm sick and tired of having to wait forever to upload a few small photos into a crummy gallery that doesn't even work half the time! No, Google's free alternative, Picasa Web Albums, is much better - the only disadvantage being that it doesn't automatically update my contact card on Msn Messenger. I should soon have some photos from France up, but for now you can enjoy the freak show that is my Photobooth gallery. ![]() August 31 Me on TV!It's online! Check out the footage here. I was planning on restarting my blog tomorrow, but I couldn't let this wait an extra day. At six o'clock today (I'm writing this before it's shown), I will be on BBC One National News. Well, not right at six o'clock, but during the programme. Basically, a company called Airfix, who make models (like planes), have gone bust - and, of course, kids playing video games are to blame. Read the full story here. Anyway, Adam's Dad rang up earlier today and asked if we were interested in being on TV, and at 3 o'clock he turned up with a single camera person. Not the huge production team I was expecting, but never mind. First, we played Star Wars Battlefront II for the camera, bashing away at the controllers. Next, Adam's Dad asked us to answer some questions about the company and the models (several times, in fact - they needed it from different angles). Then some silent footage was shot of Adam's Dad listening to us talk about our holidays, which was to be spliced into the bits where we were talking about relevant subjects. The final bit of footage shot was of Teds and I pulling open an Airfix box, and pretending to try to put the models together. Being actors, this was the most enjoyable part, especially as i got to hit my brother with the models. July 25 Meeting Kiera Knightley with AmericansGuess what! I went into London with the Americans today, and we met Kiera Knightley, all dressed up while filming POTC3! Look! ![]() Nah, I'm just screwing with ya. We went to Madame Tussaud's, the Cadbury's World of celebrity obsessives. There's a Big Brother diary room chair, a life-sized Hulk breaking through the walls, and a POTC-themed room, filled with foreigners (and English) shouting "Johnny Depp!" Oddly enough, part of the series of exhibitions was the planetarium, where watched a brilliantly animated but completely pointless short film on celebrities and what aliens might think of them. The best bit, though, was the Chamber of Horrors Live, which was basically a long, dark, and twisty corridor filled with scary-looking actors that literally tried to breathe down your neck. The two American girls were screaming in my ears and hiding behind my back, pushing me along the corridor. The Americans seem pretty cool. Our family had a !!! moment when one daughter came down wearing a t-shirt with "Feeling the love of Jesus in California" written on it (sadly, it wasn't ironic), and the other daughter was heard saying "Cyprus? Is that in England?" Never mind, their newfound love for Rupert's Family Guy DVDs makes up for all of these small flaws. July 24 Guest post by FranFran's currently on holiday in France with her french exchange partner, but doesn't have a Space to put it on. Plus, it looks like I've actually done a blog entry when I haven't written anything but this intro! Enjoy. Today was my favourite day so far. We went to the supermarket tobuy food for lunch today and tomorrow, we're having a picnic tomorrow Ithink. I also bought some stamps for my postcards which I've posted soyou should get them soon. Then, we went to Marie's grandmother's house(we go everyday just for a quick hello). I saw Frankie which was a major relief because it gets so annoyingnot being able to talk to anyone properly. We went swimming to thiscool pool with two flumes (flumes is "toboggan" in French lol), anindoor pool and an outdoor pool with a wave machine. We ate some cakeson the grass and I got sunburnt again but I'm not really sure howbecause I used sun cream, factor 30! I have learnt loads of new words let me share a few with you: Tranche de jambon - Slice of ham Soldes - Sale A toi - Your turn [when playing a game] Attention! - Be careful! Biscotte - like errrrm, crispy burnt toast thing which I thought would be a biscuit lol. There are loads more but I really can't think of any! Today I had a siesta it was so nice. Marie came in and woke me up but then I fell back asleep for half an hour or so. Tomorrow we are going to a place but I'm not really sure what iris because of the language barrier but I think it's something to bescared of because they want my insurance card thing, but hopefully I'llsurvive! July 23 Photos upSo I'm not updating in the summer every day. Fair enough, it's supposed to be a holiday, anyway. I've been sorting out my photos, you can now find photos of the Chili gig on my Picasa gallery, here. More galleries should be up soon. July 19 Excuses, excusesI would desperately like to write in my blog every day. Recently you may ahve noticed a dramatic drop in both quality and frequency of posts, and I'm sorry. Here's my excuses:
Oh yeah, and here's Nick's portrait of me. ![]() July 17 Chili ReportYou would not believe the porblems I had trying to post this entry (phone not taking photos, computer crashing, parents interrupting), so enjoy it! In the time it's taken, I have found a love for Muse, despite the fact that their singer sounds just like Radiohead's Thom Yorke. Supermassive Black Hole is a good song. Okay, this time I’m typing in Word so that, even if my computer crashes, my blog entry will be saved. I’m determined to type up a detailed account of my first ever gig, if just to preserve the memories. After months of waiting, on Friday I finally saw my favourite band in the whole wide world, Red Hot Chili Peppers, live at Earls Court with Miriam (from Elthorne) and her mate Sarah. Although the queues were pretty long, we were allowed in surprisingly quickly. When we reached the ticket people, my water bottle was confiscated – presumably to stop people from throwing them at the support group (in this case the god-awful !!!). They didn’t seem to bother taking anyone’s cigarettes, though – the giant “no smoking” sign was almost obscured by the haze above the crowd. Earls Court itself is massive. Between the main bit and the outer walls is a weird space where you can buy food, drink and Krispy Kreme Donuts. Oh, and jealousy-inspiring t-shirts like this one (the one I'm wearing right in the middle. This photo was taken at Jasmine's partay on Saturday). After what felt like hours of waiting, they finally came on, playing an incredible bout of Can’t Stop. Everything after that is a bit of a blur really, the hour-and-half of madness peaking during By The Way, Don’t Forget Me and Under The Bridge. There was a guy behind me with incredibly long blonde hair (think Pierce in year 9, but longer) who kept on whipping me with it while headbanging. ![]() We crept out during the closing five-minute jam, and grabbed lots of overpriced merchandise before everyone else left, leaving behind your average cleaners’ worst nightmares. ![]() Sarah’s Dad met us outside and gave us well-timed gifts of bottled water. I was rather upset as we walked past illegal tour t-shirts being sold for £13 less than I had paid for mine. Overall, it was great fun. But I’d love to see a smaller group at a more personal venue. Anyone have any ideas? July 16 Bloody computerI wrote a huge entry on the Chili gig... and then my computer crashed and deleted it! Sorry, everyone. July 14 In three hours...I shall be watching Red Hot Chili Peppers live on stage in Earls Court. And I think that's all that needs to be said. |
