7月17日 Chili ReportYou would not believe the porblems I had trying to post this entry (phone not taking photos, computer crashing, parents interrupting), so enjoy it! In the time it's taken, I have found a love for Muse, despite the fact that their singer sounds just like Radiohead's Thom Yorke. Supermassive Black Hole is a good song. Okay, this time I’m typing in Word so that, even if my computer crashes, my blog entry will be saved. I’m determined to type up a detailed account of my first ever gig, if just to preserve the memories. After months of waiting, on Friday I finally saw my favourite band in the whole wide world, Red Hot Chili Peppers, live at Earls Court with Miriam (from Elthorne) and her mate Sarah. Although the queues were pretty long, we were allowed in surprisingly quickly. When we reached the ticket people, my water bottle was confiscated – presumably to stop people from throwing them at the support group (in this case the god-awful !!!). They didn’t seem to bother taking anyone’s cigarettes, though – the giant “no smoking” sign was almost obscured by the haze above the crowd. Earls Court itself is massive. Between the main bit and the outer walls is a weird space where you can buy food, drink and Krispy Kreme Donuts. Oh, and jealousy-inspiring t-shirts like this one (the one I'm wearing right in the middle. This photo was taken at Jasmine's partay on Saturday). After what felt like hours of waiting, they finally came on, playing an incredible bout of Can’t Stop. Everything after that is a bit of a blur really, the hour-and-half of madness peaking during By The Way, Don’t Forget Me and Under The Bridge. There was a guy behind me with incredibly long blonde hair (think Pierce in year 9, but longer) who kept on whipping me with it while headbanging. ![]() We crept out during the closing five-minute jam, and grabbed lots of overpriced merchandise before everyone else left, leaving behind your average cleaners’ worst nightmares. ![]() Sarah’s Dad met us outside and gave us well-timed gifts of bottled water. I was rather upset as we walked past illegal tour t-shirts being sold for £13 less than I had paid for mine. Overall, it was great fun. But I’d love to see a smaller group at a more personal venue. Anyone have any ideas? 评论 (2)
